ALUMNI UPDATES DONE; TOUR CHOIR IS OUT ON TOUR
– 2.26.10

If you tried to update your alumni listing in the past year, you should now find it posted online. Apologies for the delay. Unfortunately, I just do not have time to devote to this website as I once did, although as I've mentioned before, it will stay online. I have no wish or need to take it off, so if you are enjoying the various features, they should be online for a good long time! – J.M.

Also, the Tour Choir is on the road as of today! Check out their schedule as they past through York, PA (tonight) and then through North and South Carolina. They will venture to Argentina for the very first time in May! Awesome, right?!

MARY LANDON RUSSELL
– 11.24.08

It is with great sadness that we post to inform choir alumni about the death earlier this week of Mary Landon Russell. Mary was 95 years old. Many alumni were privileged to have Mrs. Russell as a teacher during her long tenure at Lycoming.

For additional information about Mrs. Russell's remarkable career (she began teaching at Lyco in 1936!), please see her obituary in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette:

http://www.sungazette.com/page/content.detail/id/519109.html?nav=5012
(If link does not work, go to the Sun-Gazette's obituaries page and search for November 23, 2008.)

MAJOR UPDATES COMPLETED TO DATABASE
– 7.4.08

It's been a long time in coming, but all the alumni database updates that have been submitted since early 2007 are now added to the database. If you filled out the database form and never saw your entry added or updated, please check it now. If there are any errors, please let us know.

Thank you for your patience in waiting for the updates. As previously announced, due to the many commitments of this site's webmaster (who also updates the choir's main site), most updates and additions to lycochoir.com have more or less ended for the time being. I will try to work on the database entries on a more regular basis, but please be patient if you submit a new entry or change. Since all work on this site is done by hand, I am only able to add or update entries as I have time to do so.

If you already have an entry in the database and just need to make a quick change (different job, new baby, etc.), please feel free to just shoot me an e-mail and let me know what bit of info needs to be changed. (In other words, if it's just a quick change, don't fill out the form, just send an e-mail). Thanks!

The Tour Choir will then be visiting Europe in May, and we will post information about their Bon Voyage concert when it is scheduled.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL CHOIR ALUMS!
– 12.11.06

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Solstice, or whatever holiday you celebrate. The Choir Alumni website will continue into 2007, although as you may have noticed, updates are few and far between. Since there is currently only one person updating this site, alums who are frustrated with this site's incomplete content are encouraged to offer assistance. I am open to any and all ideas!

Have a pleasant holiday, and make plans to see the choir in concert in 2007!

TOUR CHOIR SPRING 2007 SCHEDULE POSTED
– 11.03.06

Early this year! All the tour dates are now available on the Choir Schedule page, along with the Chamber and full Choir fall 2006 dates. You can also find the same information on the Tour Choir's Itinerary page on the Lycoming Choir website.

TOUR CHOIR CALIFORNIA 2006 PHOTOS
– 9.18.06

Photos from the Tour Choir's trip to Cali in 2006 have now been posted on the choir's site. Visit:
www.lycoming.edu/choir/media_photosrecent.html

And don't forget, you can view their performance on the Crystal Cathedral's "Hour of Power" right on our Video Archive page!

UPDATES TO LYCOMING CHOIR SITE
– 9.11.06

New MP3s are now online on the Lycoming Choir site! These selections are from the Tour Choir's Homecoming 2006 concert, the Chamber Choir's 2006 "master works" concert, and the 2006 Graduation concert. Listen to them at:
www.lycoming.edu/choir/media_mp3s.html

Also check the Lycoming Choir site again soon for photos from the choir's 2006 tour to California and fall 2006 schedule information.

On another note, apologies that the choir alumni website hasn't been updated for quite awhile – unfortunately, real life (and increased business) has intruded on the webmaster! We'll be trying to get more photos and materials up here as soon as possible. Please note that all of the database entries received since spring have now been posted, so if you submitted our form with info, check your entry – it should now be online. Thanks for your patience!

COREY GARBER
– 7.18.06

It is with great sadness that we announce that on the evening of July 12, 2006, tenor Corey Garber, Class of '05, passed away from an undisclosed medical complication. A funeral was held in Tamaqua, PA on Friday, July 15th. We ask that you keep Corey, Tara, and his family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Thank you.

You may view Corey's obituary through the Morning Call site at:

"60 YEARS OF MUSIC AND MEMORIES"
VIDEO RETROSPECTIVE EXCERPTS ONLINE
and
SING JOYFULLY & CLOUDBURST MP3s ONLINE
– 4.2.06

Visit the Video Archive to see selected excerpts from the recent video retrospective of the choir.

Every decade of the choir's existence has at least one excerpt. Remember, the full presentation runs 38 minutes. If you want to see the missing pieces and enjoy the show in high quality, please visit our Choir Reunion 2005 Video information page.

The above photo was taken as the choir paused for an impromptu performance prior to leaving on tour in 1965.

Also, MP3s from "Sing Joyfully" and "Cloudburst" have been added to the Audio Shelf. Only a few selections from "Cloudburst" are currently online, due to the fact that this CD is currently being sold by the choir and we don't wish to undercut their profits. (Support the choir; buy a CD!)

Therefore, the Lycoming Choir LPs, tapes, and CDs that were formally released are now all online. Look for selections from various concerts to arrive soon, as well as selections from the choir's 2006 season.

WINTER WIND, BLUE SKIES, & WONDROUS LOVE ONLINE
and NEW VIDEO ARCHIVE PAGE!
– 3.29.06

MP3s from three of the choir's CDs are now online at the Audio Shelf. More coming soon!

Also, we've added a new page to the site: the Video Archive. Right now, you can watch the choir's 2002 and 2006 appearances at the Crystal Cathedral on the "Hour of Power," the choir's 2004 performance at Coral Ridge Ministries in Florida (home of TV's "Coral Ridge Hour"), and the "Clarke" parody trailer. Look for more videos, including segments of the choir's retrospective, coming soon.

MP3S FROM RECORDS AND TAPES ONLINE!
– 3.23.06

We now have MP3s from the choir's three LPs (Let Us Break Bread, 1961; Great Day, 1964; and the 1978 choir LP) online, as well as from the choir's 1990 and 1992 tapes.

Hear them on the Audio Shelf.

We hope you enjoy these recordings, which you may not have been able to hear for a long time! Please note that no audio processing has been done to these recordings, so tracks from the records (particularly those from the 1960s) have that great "record noise" at times. In addition, there is significant tape hiss and some distortion on the recordings made from the two audiotapes; the audiotape MP3s vary significantly in quality. Unfortunately, we don't have the expertise to fix up these recordings – but if anyone does and wants to, we'll gladly provide you with the raw files!

Look for the MP3s from the remaining CDs to be posted soon, as well as MP3s from the 1996 50th Anniversary Concert and the 1997 Tour Choir concert in Wagenfeld.

HOMECOMING 2005/60TH CHOIR REUNION PHOTOS ONLINE!
– 3.20.06

A full photo gallery covering all four events of the choir's 60th reunion weekend are now online! Go to: Homecoming 2005

Along with photos from the weekend, the page also provides June Karschner's full recap story of the reunion weekend and high-resolution photos of the group photos from the weekend (so you can print them out and have copies for yourself!). DVD ordering information is now in this section as well.

Look for more updates to this website coming soon! We are back in business after a year spent working on the reunion/retrospective videos. Check back for a plethora of MP3s to be posted later this week, and thanks to everybody for your patience! This website is a work-in-progress but it is now progressing again!

DID YOU MISS THE CHOIR ON THE HOUR OF POWER?
– 3.20.06

The Tour Choir's recent appearance on the Crystal Cathedral's "Hour of Power" is now online on the video page of the choir's website. See:

http://www.lycoming.edu/choir/media_video.html

The page also offers a video clip from the choir's 2004 performance at Coral Ridge Ministries in Florida (home of TV's "Coral Ridge Hour") and the 2002 performance from the "Hour of Power." Check it out!

Now you can revisit all the weekend’s events with this brand-new video! Did we catch you singing at a reunion rehearsal or chatting at the banquet? Or did a photo of you makes its way into the choir's history retrospective? The only way to find out is to order!

Included on the video:

Lyco Choir Reunion 2005
The choir’s reunion in October 2005 commemorated the program’s 60th year and featured two rehearsals, a banquet, and a performance at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Williamsport. Many Lyco Choir alums attended the reunion, and it was an unforgettable weekend of singing and friendship. This 2-hour, professionally-edited film captures all of the highlights of the reunion weekend. The two photos shown on the right were captured from the reunion film.

Lycoming College Choir:
60 Years of Music and Memories

Beginning with the choir’s inception in 1947, this retrospective traces the history of the Lycoming Choir from 1946 to 2005, using hundreds of photos, videos, and music. Premiered at the 2005 reunion banquet; 38 minutes.

Visit our Video Archive to see excerpts from "60 Years of Music and Memories"!

The two programs are available together on a DVD (2-disc set, pictured) or VHS (1 tape). Both formats feature the same full-color packaging. The cost of either the DVD or VHS is $25, which includes shipping and handling. To order, return this order form with your check payment. Questions? Contact Jennica Musselman ‘98 at jennica@timelessdvd.com or 215-631-9762.

"I DIDN'T ATTEND THE REUNION. WHY SHOULD I ORDER THE VIDEO?"

First, because as a proud choir alum, you simply can't miss seeing "60 Years of Music and Memories", the history retrospective of the Lycoming College Choir! Our use of 60 years-worth of photos and videos ensures that many choir alums will find themselves and their friends in this video! Are you in it? "60 Years" is a top-notch production that any choir alum will enjoy and appreciate.

And even if you couldn't attend the reunion, watching "Lyco Choir Reunion 2005" is the next-best-thing to being there! This 2-hour video is jam-packed with choir alums from all ages, as well as great performances, from rehearsals to the reunion banquet to the Sunday performance. See what you missed out on, and resolve to attend the next reunion!

CHOIR REUNION WEEKEND
– 10.10.05

Thanks to everyone who made the choir reunion weekend such a fantastic success, and thanks to everyone who came! It truly was a wonderful experience . . . and who knows, maybe we can make the "Homecoming Choir Reunion Weekend" a more regular event! As word spreads about the success of this event, maybe we'll get even more alums in attendance next time.

A few notes from the A/V department . . . Krista and I ended up with much footage from the many events, and this will be edited onto a DVD along with the 35-minute choir history video that was shown at the banquet. Although we didn't get to talk to as many alums on-camera as we had planned (time factors and too much background noise), it's a sure bet that we taped everyone in attendance at least once during the different events. And we had three cameras running during all the choir songs at Sunday morning's service!

When the DVD is finished, ordering information will be posted here and will also be e-mailed/mailed directly to alums who dropped off the yellow order form in the red box over the weekend. I also hope to get a mention about it into the Lycoming Magazine. If you would like to reach me directly about anything relating to the video, you can contact me at lycochoir@aol.com.

We also hope to collect photos from as many sources as possible – including Molly Costello and current choir historian Meg Strong – and will post them online, hopefully in resolutions that allow you to download and print them out. Some photos may also make it into the video!

Thanks again, everyone! I hope you had a wonderful time this weekend.

– Jennica

PS: Just got this note from Chris (Boyer) Frost about the weekend and wanted to add her comment...many of you can likely relate!: "I just attended the Alumni weekend and WOW what a powerful experience that was! Memories flooding back from the good 'ol days. None of us seemed to have aged... just moved on. Wow – Fred is still a great conductor and all around great person (and he still looks great, too!) If you haven't been to campus lately, you must go see the NEW Mary Welch recital hall – it's unbelievable!!!!!!"
